This is a quaking bog I created several years ago by burying a pond liner in the ground, adding a few bales of Canadian peat moss, and then adding various plants I collected from an actual quaking bog in New Hampshire. (The Northern Purple Pitcher Plants are new)

Hi Kanga,
A quaking bog is usually an ancient lake created by receding glaciers and are found in northern New England. Peat moss slowly fills in the lakes to create a quaking bog which is a thick mat of peat moss floating on a body of water.

A quaking bog is a very unique ecosystem with carnivorous plants and other plants that can tolerate a low nutrient and very acidic environment. My quaking bog has both Northern Pitcher Plants and sundews. In addition there are several other plants that I have not identified yet. This bog is my other hobby.
